Ashizuri-Uwakai National Park – A Week Of Adventure Tourism

I stayed a week with passionate Japanese rangers at Ashizuri-Uwakai national park to do consulting related to inbound adventure/sustainable tourism (surprisingly with a touch of regenerative tourism). That was really great, full of surprises, and full of interesting discussions in Japanese with the rangers. We saw unique nodules that space scientists apparently come study from all over the world, endangered loggerhead turtles, corals regrown by humans to counter the negative impact of recent natural disasters… and I enjoyed the sunrise over the sea from an open-air hot spring 🙂 This work at Ashizuri-Uwakai national park was for the Japanese Ministry of the Environment, longer to work I did for the same ministry at Yoshino-Kumano national park.
